The blessing of having children is one of the greatest blessings among the countless favors Allah bestows upon His servants. To fully comprehend the greatness of this blessing, and the fact that no one but Allah can grant it, one must consider the situation of those who are childless. Only then does a person truly realize how great the blessing of children is.

Whenever any blessing, large or small, is bestowed, it is a natural truth in human nature to express gratitude to the Giver of the blessing. Gratitude consists of two parts:
The first is spiritual gratitude, which involves praising the glory of the One who grants the blessing.
The second is practical gratitude, which means managing the blessing in a way that pleases the Giver.

Spiritual gratitude for the blessing of children consists of verbally praising Allah, the One who gave the blessing, and sincerely affirming it in the heart.
Practical gratitude for the blessing of children involves raising that child to be a righteous servant who believes in Allah and worships Him. To do this, parents must sincerely fulfill their duties toward their children as prescribed in Islam. One of the parents’ duties toward their children is to raise them healthy and sound.
